John joined New Mountain Capital in 2026 to partner with New Mountain leadership on strategic initiatives.
Prior to joining New Mountain, John was Global Group Head of Blackstone’s multi-asset investment division, where he was responsible for leading the $80 billion+ group focused on hedge funds, GP stakes, and other global investment platforms. John was a member of Blackstone’s firm-wide Operating Committee and a leader in creating the firm’s data science and AI and private wealth platforms.
Prior to his 17-year tenure at Blackstone, John was an Associate Principal in the Financial Institutions Group at McKinsey & Company in New York, where he focused on exchanges, custodians, banks and other financial-industry subsectors. John began his career as an attorney, working as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and as an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell. John also served in the U.S. Department of the Treasury. John is an active investor and entrepreneur, most recently restructuring and exiting a machine-learning-driven investment platform.
John holds a J.D. from Yale Law School, where he spent the spring semester of 2022 as an Associate Research Scholar, creating and leading a reading group focused on policy responses to emerging technologies. John holds a B.A. from Vassar College, where he currently serves as a Trustee.
