Chris O’Connell, Senior Advisor, joined New Mountain Capital in 2021. He is an accomplished CEO, board member and corporate advisor with broad expertise in life sciences, medical devices and the global healthcare field. He is currently an independent Director of PerkinElmer, a leading global life sciences and laboratory services company, previously serving as Executive Chairman of Covaris LLC until its acquisition by PerkinElmer. Mr. O’Connell is also an independent Director of Actylis, a leading global provider of specialty materials for life sciences and advanced technology markets. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Highridge Medical, a leader in the global spinal device market. Mr. O’Connell is also Chairman of the Board of CorFlow, a Switzerland-based medical device company for microvascular obstruction, and is an independent Director of A3P Biomedical, a Sweden-based prostate cancer diagnostics company.
From 2015-2020, Mr. O’Connell served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT). Previously, he served at Medtronic plc (NYSE: MDT) for twenty-one years, most recently as Executive Vice President and President of its Restorative Therapies Group, and was a member of Medtronic’s Executive Committee for nine years. He started his career at Chemical Banking Corporation in New York. Mr. O’Connell earned a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in 1989, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard University in 1994.
