David Vise, Senior Advisor, joined New Mountain full time in 2008. Mr. Vise was awarded a Pulitzer Prize during his more than two decades as a reporter at The Washington Post. He is also the author of four books, including two bestsellers, The Google Story, published in 25 languages, and The Bureau and The Mole, a spy thriller. In addition, he has written commentary on business that appeared in The Wall Street Journal and newspapers across Europe and Asia.
Prior to The Washington Post, Mr. Vise worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions department of Goldman.
Mr. Vise was named one of the 125 most influential graduates of The Wharton School, received The Wharton Lifetime Achievement Award, and holds an Honorary Doctorate of Literary Letters.
Mr. Vise serves as Executive Director and board member of Modern States “Freshman Year for Free,” the largest free college program in the country with more than 400,000 students; the philanthropy’s goal is to make college more affordable and accessible.
He served as a director of Save a Child’s Heart and volunteered at Children’s Hospital of Washington, Martha’s Table Shelter, and in a literacy program in The District of Columbia’s Public Schools. He served as advisor to the Head of Sidwell Friends School and has focused on interfaith relations.
