David Baird joined Cumming Group in 2004 and was named CEO on January 1, 2021. Since joining the firm in 2004, he has served in a variety of roles and has been instrumental in helping to build and shape the organization into what it is today. As CEO, he provides strategic direction for the organization, ensuring that Cumming lives up to its core values, and fosters an environment that promotes innovation and continuous improvement. Mr. Baird has more than 25 years of industry experience, most of which was spent serving clients directly. Prior to being named CEO, he assumed the role of COO in January 2020, accepting overall responsibility for the firm’s operations teams. Before taking over as COO, he was responsible for the construction consultancy’s cost management teams nationwide and oversaw all West Coast project management operations. Mr. Baird earned his master’s degree in landscape architecture from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland in 2000, and is a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering.
