BMI is a data, payments, and information services provider to the global songwriting and music publishing community. It is the world’s largest Performing Rights Organization and protects the rights of and advocates for more than 1.4 million affiliated songwriters, composers and music publishers. BMI secures royalties for its affiliates by offering licenses to over 176k businesses and organizations, which permit them to play BMI’s 22+ million musical works. BMI aggregates detailed performance data to identify and value performances of its musical works and distributes royalties on that basis.
