NMHC Appoints David Shaw to Board of Directors

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Dec. 16, 2004 – National Medical Health Card Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NMHC), a national independent pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), elected David Shaw to its board of directors at its annual meeting of shareholders.

David E. Shaw, 53, is the managing partner of Black Point Partners LLC, a private investment company, which he founded in 1997. In addition, he currently serves as a consultant and limited partner to Venrock Associates and as a senior advisor to New Mountain Capital. He is also the founder and, from 1984 to 2002, served as the chairman and chief executive officer of IDEXX Laboratories, Inc., a publicly held biotechnology, medical device and software company. Mr. Shaw serves as a director of Microbia, Inc., The Jackson Laboratory, and the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
