Douglas Londal to join New Mountain Capital from Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Group

NEW YORK – September 7, 2004 – Douglas Londal, formerly a Managing Director in the Principal Investment Area of Goldman Sachs & Co., is joining the executive staff of New Mountain Capital, LLC (“New Mountain”), one of the nation’s leading private equity firms, as a Managing Director.

Mr. Londal has been with Goldman Sachs for thirteen years, the last nine of which were with the Principal Investment Area originating, evaluating, structuring and monitoring private equity and mezzanine investments on behalf of GS Capital Partners 2000, L.P. ($5.25 billion fund) and GS Mezzanine Partners III, L.P. ($2.7 billion fund). Among other positions, Mr. Londal has served as co-head of the Merchant Banking investing effort in the Americas, and has been directly involved in investing over $1.5 billion in private equity and mezzanine in transactions valued at over $8 billion. Prior to his resignation from Goldman Sachs, Mr. Londal served as the Chairman of Village Voice Media and as a member of the board of directors of Berry Plastics Corporation, NextMedia Group, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Inc., MBM Corporation and 21 st Century Newspapers, Inc. Mr. Londal is also a former director of Orion Power Holdings, Mack Printing Group and Medical Arts Press.

Douglas Londal joined the Merger Department of Goldman Sachs in 1991. He transferred to the Principal Investment Area as a Vice President in 1995 and was promoted to Managing Director in 1999. Mr. Londal received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School Of Business.
