Steve Holtzclaw, MD

Dr. Steve Holtzclaw serves as Chief Executive Officer of Alteon Health. As an accomplished physician and veteran leader in the physician services industry, Dr. Holtzclaw has led the transformation of hundreds of emergency medicine, acute care, ambulatory care, and anesthesiology programs nationwide. Prior to joining Alteon, he served most recently as President of Hospital-Based services for TeamHealth. In this role Dr. Holtzclaw was responsible for leading the expansion and progress of healthy business relationships with hospital clients, financial solvency and revenue generation, clinician relations, and organizational development.

Dr. Holtzclaw has an extensive clinical background, beginning his career as an EMT/Paramedic at Helene Fuld Hospital in New Jersey from 1979-1990. He received undergraduate degrees in business administration and biology before attending medical school at the University of Maryland, where he graduated in 1990. He completed his emergency medicine residency training at Johns Hopkins University and pursued an Executive MBA at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Holtzclaw was named Chairman of the Emergency Department at The Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, in 2001. He has over 20 years of practice history at Johns Hopkins University, where he is currently responsible teaching medical students and residents at the bedside as a member of the emergency medicine program faculty. An esteemed mentor and colleague, Dr. Holtzclaw continues to practice clinically.
