Jonathan Waggoner

Jonathan Waggoner, Managing Director, joined New Mountain in 2015. Most recently, Mr. Waggoner was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Revenue Officer for Rue La La, an on-line, off-price retailer from 2012 until 2015. His focus in both roles was on bringing deep process and quantitative analysis to the rapidly growing retailer. While at Rue La La, Mr. Waggoner helped the company achieve significant operational efficiencies and margin expansion, as well as build the operating foundation for expanded customer acquisition. Mr. Waggoner led content production, merchandise planning, materials management, customer service, programming, customer acquisition, and customer retention marketing.

Prior to Rue La La, Mr. Waggoner was in the operating group at Bain Capital from 2006 to 2012, ultimately assuming a role as Senior Vice-President. The operating group is focused on creating value in the portfolio companies through sales growth, margin enhancement, strategic acquisition, and operational efficiency. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Waggoner was a consultant at McKinsey & Co. During his time at McKinsey, Mr. Waggoner led improvement efforts across retail operations/strategy, industrial operational improvement, pricing, distribution, and B2B sales & marketing. Mr. Waggoner’s focus areas were generally targeted at driving profitable growth. Mr. Waggoner consistently received McKinsey’s “Distinctive” rating (top 6%), based on his ability to effectively create strong working relationships with management teams, and help create solutions that were practical and easy to implement.

Mr. Waggoner began his career in 1996 on the Technical Leadership Program at General Electric, in the Industrial Systems business. Mr. Waggoner was the 1st 3-time winner of the TLP Award of Excellence. From 1998 to 2001, he worked at Allied Signal/Honeywell, in the Specialty Chemicals division, as a Six Sigma Master Blackbelt focused on supply chain and sales/marketing improvements. Mr. Waggoner received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, in 2003, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Arkansas State University, summa cum laude.
