Lloyd G. "Buzz" Waterhouse
Senior Advisor

Lloyd (Buzz) Waterhouse joined NMC as a senior advisor in 2015. Mr. Waterhouse currently serves as the interim president and CEO of McGraw-Hill Education, one of the world’s largest learning sciences companies. Mr. Waterhouse previously served as the president and CEO of McGraw-Hill Education from June 2012 until April 2014. He has been a strong proponent of re-imagining learning, leveraging his deep experience in technology with his love for education. These efforts resulted in the transformation of McGraw into the leader in outcomes-based, digital learning solutions. Mr. Waterhouse was responsible for the separation of McGraw-Hill Education from McGraw-Hill Financial, standing up the company and its subsequent sale to Apollo Global Management.  

Mr. Waterhouse was also the CEO of Harcourt Education, a provider of instructional materials, e-learning and testing services for the global education market.  Under Mr. Waterhouse’s leadership, the company underwent a significant transformation, and was later sold in a $5 billion transaction.       

Prior to Harcourt, Mr. Waterhouse was CEO and chairman of The Reynolds & Reynolds Company, the leading provider of automotive retailing solutions.  While in Dayton, Mr. Waterhouse started the I-Zone, co-founded the Entrepreneur’s Fund, served as the first chairperson of the Wright Center for Innovation, and founded Mound Street Academies, a highly successful school for at-risk students. 

Before Reynolds, Mr. Waterhouse held numerous roles at IBM.  He led their strategy and business development functions during Lou Gerstner’s tenure and subsequent turn-around, launched IBM Global Services, and was president of Asia Pacific Services Corporation.

Mr. Waterhouse currently resides in Park City, Utah and serves on the boards of Solar Winds, McGraw-Hill Education, and Penn State’s Smeal College of Business.
