Oakleaf Global Holdings, Inc., founded in 1995, is a fast growing, technology-enabled services company that dominates a uniquely attractive niche within two large and economically defensive industries: environmental services and facilities management. The Company uses proprietary software, systems and databases to allow its clients to outsource all their waste management needs; to reduce their costs by 5% - 25% in a typical case; and to expand their use of environmentally "green" alternatives to traditional waste disposal approaches. The Company currently services over 500 major customers at more than 85,000 locations. Approximately 95% of Oakleaf's revenues are derived from recurring, multiyear contracts with a diverse group of blue chip national accounts including Wal-Mart, Sears/Kmart, the GAP, General Electric and others.
Oakleaf is differentiated from traditional waste haulers by its "asset light" business model. Oakleaf uses its in-house technical expertise to redesign its customers' processes to reduce waste. Oakleaf also employs the industry's most sophisticated vendor management software and most extensive proprietary database of local pricing and performance information to oversee a network of 4,400 high quality, independent haulers. Oakleaf's clients receive improved pricing while the independent vendors increase their route density and profitability, resulting in a "win:win" situation for all parties involved.
New Mountain identified Oakleaf as part of a proactive focus on the facilities service space which began in early 2006. As a result of this industry effort, New Mountain developed a broad network of management, banking and advisory relationships in the sector and was introduced to Oakleaf (a privately held company) approximately twelve months before the Company was put up for sale. Shortly after the board did decide to sell the business, the formal auction process was terminated and New Mountain, with only limited competition, was granted a special opportunity to conduct our due diligence and acquire the company.
